Barry S. Kraushaar, MD
Co-Director of Nyack Hospital's Joint Replacement Center
Dr. Kraushaar began practice in 1996. He founded Advanced Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 1999. Dr. Kraushaar treats patients of all ages and specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee.
Jason E. Fond, MD
Dr. Fond joined Advanced Orthopedics & Sports Medicine August 2001. In addition to sports medicine, Dr. Fond treats patients of all ages with multiple orthopedics diagnoses. This includes joint reconstruction for arthritis, fixation of complex fractures, hand trauma, and pediatric injuries.
Richard L. Popowitz, MD
Dr. Popowitz joined the team of Drs. Kraushaar and Fond in August 2004. Though specializing in sports-related injuries, Dr. Popowitz also treats patients of all ages with a wide range of orthopedic symptoms and diagnoses. He participates as a team doctor for local teams as well as for professional athletes.
Jeffrey R. Lee, MS, RPA-C
Jeff is the physician assistant on staff. He completed his undergraduate studies in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training at Marietta College. After graduating, he was accepted into the New Jersey Nets summer internship program, where he helped care for the professional athletes. Jeff continued his education at the University of Medicine of New Jersey and Seton Hall University. There he completed a three-year master's program in physician assistant studies. Since graduating, Jeff has been working in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. His duties consist of surgical assisting, patient management, and coverage of various sporting events.
Evan D. Queler, MD
Interventional Spine Physiatrist
Dr. Queler is our newest member of AOSM’s medical team. He is a physiatrist. Physiatry is the practice of treatment in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). The ultimate goal of PM&R is to improve a patient’s function and quality of life. Dr. Queler received his physiatric residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed his Interventional Spine Research Fellowship and worked as an associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Spine Center in Richmond, Virginia. His training in Medical Acupuncture was completed through Helms Medical Institute. After a comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Queler offers his patients a non-surgical approach to spine and musculoskeletal pain through the incorporation of physical therapy, target specific x-ray guided procedures, medical acupuncture and prolotherapy. Outside of his work, Dr. Queler enjoys spending time with family, exercising, movies, music and studying conventional and alternative medical therapies to expand his care to patients.
Allison R. Rifkin, MS, RPA-C
Allison joined the team of AOSM as a physician assistant in November 2012. She attended Binghamton University for her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biology. Allison continued her education for her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Touro College in Bay Shore, Long Island. Allison graduate at the top of her class and was inducted into the Pi Alpha Honor Society for Physician Assistants.
